Beginner Flyball classes are held occasionally and are open to dogs independent of breed or size. Classes are taught on Friday nights at 6:30 pm at the Winston Salem Dog Training Club. Flyball is a high-adrenalin, fast, team sport. Dogs are off leash in close contact with both people and other dogs. Dogs must have a good temperament and be under handler control. While we strive to build enthusiasm, motivation, and teach the basic skills of the game, safety of the other dogs and handlers in the class and on the team is also a primary goal. Classes are structured and registration is required. Instructor and captain approval is required for all dogs. New dogs will be assessed. Suitability for flyball will be evaluated prior to admittance in a class, and as an ongoing process during the 8-week beginner flyball class.

Team Practice

Team Practice is Friday nights at 7:30 pm at the Winston-Salem Dog Training Club. We always welcome visitors who wish to observe what it is our dogs love to do! Please leave your canine companions at home when visiting to us so that we may comply with the Winston-Salem Dog Training Club rules regarding dogs not in a class. Please check scheduled events, as we do not hold practice on weekends when we will be traveling to tournaments, or when the building is being used for an event. If you are interested in team membership, contact Becky by email. Team membership is decided by team vote. Participation in a class or practice does not guarantee team membership, but rather opens the door to team membership possibilities, whether with us or another team.

First in Flight welcomes the chance to perform demonstrations at public events whenever we can.  If you are interested in discussing a possible venue for a flyball demonstration, please contact Becky.
